A browser hacking game where the network is real
hiddenwars.io · free · no install · runs in a tab
HiddenWars is a browser-based hacker strategy MMO — the kind of game the web does best. You open a tab, you get a terminal, and behind it a persistent world of thousands of operators building botnets, running hacks, and racing each other up the ShadowNet leaderboard. It keeps running when you log off.
The shape of it
- Botnet — recruit nodes across the net, grow your infrastructure, defend it. Other players want it.
- Hacks — hit high-value and legendary targets; every job accrues heat, and heat has consequences.
- Economy — bounties, a player market, rig upgrades. Crypto funds the machine.
- War — join a cell, fight sieges and world bosses; a persistent Corruption War spreads across regions whether anyone shows up or not.
- Events — recurring ARG-style world events drip lore into the world. Things happen in HiddenWars that the patch notes only half explain.
Practical answers
- Price — free to play. Optional premium currency for cosmetics and convenience. No pay-to-win.
- Platform — any modern browser, nothing to install. A Steam build (Windows/Linux) is in development.
- Session shape — a PBBG: check in for minutes, or steep in it for an evening. The world ticks either way.
- Who made it — one independent developer, building it in public.
